Mastering is an essential part of
the recording process. Every project goes through five very
important steps. It begins with Preproduction, then basic
tracking, overdubbing and mixing. Once your project has
completed these four steps it's time for mastering.
What is mastering and why is it important:
Mastering is the process of placing the tracks of your
project in a specific order, matching relative volumes and tones of
each track, increasing clarity and definition while removing
sibilance and plosives (hiss and pops) when necessary. Creating uniformity between
each track and stream lining overall level is an essential
piece of the recording process.
